1878-CC Trade Dollar

The 1878-CC Trade Dollar (Buy on eBay) was the final issue of the series produced for circulation at the Carson City Mint. The mintage represents the low for the series at 97,000 pieces, many of which are believed to have been melted. The issue is rare and carries a premium across all grade levels. Approximately 60 pieces have survived in uncirculated condition with one specimen each surviving in grades MS65 and MS66.

The record sales price is held by the specimen graded MS65, which sold for $192,000 in 2019. The finest graded issue has not been sold publicly for many years.
